Karen Willems is a female drummer, percussionist, composer and one of the most inventive musicians of her generation. She is active in different area’s and with that has already traveled a diverse and distinct path, mostly in collaboration with others.

In 2020 she will focus on her own work, searching for personal modifications within her play of instruments and objects which should lead to a better development and enrichment as a musician.

Her project Terre Sol will map out that path through different tape releases. The first tape ‘Grondwerken Willems 01’ will be released on the Belgian label Taping Policies. Taping Policies offered Karen an intimate space to record her new sounds. During the recording session she did research on the possibilities of percussion, objects, voice and field recordings.
